New Buffalo, Michigan

I had a chance to play over the weekend at the downtown farmers market in New Buffalo, Michigan. New Buffalo is a beach town on Lake Michigan about an hour up the coast from Chicago. It’s a beautiful resort town that looks similar to something you might find on Cape Cod. The first people I met were a couple of guys in Browns shirts from Cleveland. Go figure. Thanks to Cathi Rogers for inviting me to play.

New Buffalo is known for it’s city beach, one of the largest on Lake Michigan.

Valparasio, Indiana

Driving back from Michigan I stopped in Valparaiso, Indiana. The town is famous for it’s great college basketball program but it’s also the birthplace of Orville Redenbacher.  After his death the town erected this statue in honor of the popcorn king’s contribution to the world. I stopped by to pay my respects. Before leaving, I thanked Orville for the damage his product has caused to my cholesterol and colon. He did not respond.

Sayler Park (Cincinnati, Ohio)

I had a chance to play in Cincinnati at the Sayler Park Street Fair. Sayler Park is a west side neighborhood full of big old trees, big old houses and it’s just a stones throw from the banks of the Ohio River.  The temperatures were in the nineties and I think I may have lost a few pounds only to gain them back after a few beers at the Parkland Grill. I guess you could say, I broke even.
